Taekwondo in a lost and violent world?

Taekwondo in a lost and violent world?

Our children have many things to distract them but what they really need is to focus. Online home-learning has made schoolwork especially homework very generic and bland. Playing video games are fun and becoming very interactive. Parents we can’t let the video games take over. It’s important for all children to learn how to focus on things in the real world, whether it’s homework, reading, or riding a bike.
Engaging the body in physical activities is one of the best ways to train a child’s mind to focus. Playing a musical instrument, engaging in a sport or doing a physical hands-on project are excellent examples of real-life actives that increases focus and ground your child in the real world.

In some cases, parents may feel hesitant to enroll their teen in a martial arts class due to fear that it will promote violence in their child. This is an important consideration. After all, you don’t want your teen practicing their kicks on their friends or younger siblings.

Good martial arts programs do not promote violence. In fact, they focus on self-control and de-escalation instead. However, students do learn efective self-defense and combat technicques, which may make some parents concerned, depending on the personality and make up of their child.

It is your responsibility to know what is best for your child and what activities will promote the behavior and values important to you. The Shorey Taekwondo family is here in Cornelius, NC to partner with you and your family.

When taught appropriately, Taekwondo is not about promoting violence it is about building the best version of you. We promote courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and an indomitable spirit. With this focus and discipline fall in line.
